There may be a high-tech way to teach people to handle chronic pain, scientists report.
They’re not talking about a sophisticated device that erases pain. Instead, they used medical technology to help patients learn how to develop mental coping devices that would allow them to train their brains to cope with, and reduce their experience of pain.
The strategy is in its early days, so it’s not ready for widespread use. Thorough tests are needed, the researchers note.
They describe their work in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
Coping With Pain
The study included 36 healthy students from Stanford University and 12 people in their 30s with chronic pain.
The pain patients had largely had little relief from other pain treatments (including painkillers and counseling).
Those who didn’t have chronic pain received pain exposure through heat applied to the palm of their left hand during the experiment.

The Brown Noise - If You Hear it, You Will Literally Crap Yourself
The brown noise (a.k.a brownian noise, brown note) is a low frequency infrasound that disrupts the movement of the colon because it sends signals in the same frequency the colon and the bowels use, resulting in making you wanting to go crap immediately or sometimes throw up or atleast fart. I know this all sounds weird, I didn't believe it until I tried it after reading so much about it.
It was used in China during the early 20th century as a punishing tool where they put it for long periods of times on large speakers connected to amplifiers and make the prisoners literally crap themselves.
It's called brown noise not for the color of the cause, it's because it was found by Robert Brown. It was also used in the United States several times to stop protests, especially in Miami.
I have attached the video of the actual Brown Noise, they say it works on 7 out of 10 people. No harm trying it out.

The Scientific End of Men - Y-Chromosome is Shrinking to Disappear
Believe it or not, it's true and it's scary. Recent genetic research were conducted to prove that the Y-chromosome, the male chromosome, is in fact shrinking and with time it is about to disappear. Thus, resulting in the end of the entire male gender, and then the end of the sexual reproduction of the human species.
In every cell in our bodies, there is a set of 23 chromosome pairs that determine our characteristics and determine everything about how our body looks and works. 22 of them represent everything similar in our species between men and women, except for the last pair, they're either two X's or an X and a Y. The 23rd pair represent the sex of the person, either XX for females, or XY for males.
Now that you know what exactly we're talking about. The first complete human cell consisted of two identical XX chromosome and each has about 1,000 genes, the Y-chromosome is an evolution, or a mutation of one of the X's. Throughout the years, the Y-chromosome has shrunk to have less than 80 genes out of the 1,000 the X still has. The picture says it all, look at the X and the Y.

Edible Food Menus and Chemically Enhanced Meals
This picture contains the Maki Roll, but on paper. Believe it or not, the paper it's printed on is edible and when you eat it you will taste actual maki roll flavor.
Homaro Cantu, a chef and an engineer, invented this incredible idea. He used an ink-jet printer with cartridges filled with liquidized food to print artistic meal pictures on a low-fat soy beans and potato paper. So if you see a paper with a chicken printed on it, eat it and you will taste the same meal printed on it, chicken.
Homaru said: "You can make an ink-jet printer do just about anything. Just imagine going through a magazine and looking at an ad for pizza. You wonder what it tastes like so you rip a page out and eat it."
This is an amazing idea and an incredible invention. It takes a very smart person to come up with such high tech food catering. To read the original article with details about his famous Moto Restaurant in Chicago CLICK HERE.

Is Body Carving a New Replacement for Tattoos?
Body art has been there for a long time, thousands of years ago. Many people love body art such as piercings, tattoos of all kinds and other forms. I myself have a couple of tattoos. It's common and it's personal.
Tattoo art has evolved to an extent where any color and any shape and any drawing or picture can be tattooed on the body. It's very creative and cool. The latest body art fashion is called the BODY CARVING or it can be called scarification. basically a person would let the artist scar him/her with the picture or art asked. It's incredible to what extent people can go to be original and distinguished. The pain is almost unbearable but the results will be fascinating because body carvings create a beautiful 3D picture.
I personally wouldn't do it. Although the experience is intriguing.

MSN is Closing Down - The Reality Behind It
A few years ago till this day, we have all received letters to our emails telling us that MSN is closing down. We must all forward the letter to everyone on the contact list so the account we are signed in to never closes. With confusion we read the letter and immediately do as told so everything we have saved from emails to web pages and calendar entries to never disappear. People's names change with every similar forward but the point is always the same. The letter below is a sample of what you may have received:
Why is there such emails?
Hey it is Andy and john the directors of MSN, sorry for the interruption but MSN is closing down. this is because too many inconsiderate people are taking up all the names (eg. making up lots of different accounts for just one person), we only have 578 names left. If you would like to close your account, DO NOT SEND THIS MESSAGE ON. If you would like to keep your account, then SEND THIS MESSAGE TO EVERYONE ON YOUR CONTACT LIST. This is no joke, we will be shutting down the servers. Send it on, thanks.First of all! I would like to remind you all that this is only a HOAX! A big fat one. MSN never closed down and never will. Bill Gates with all his money isn't capable of paying a few extra thousands of dollars on installing new servers? I mean come on. What bothers me the most is that people still send it and they think it works.
WHO EVER DOES NOT SEND THIS MESSAGE, YOUR ACCOUNT WILL BE CLOSED AND IT WILL COST £10.00 A MONTH TO USE. SEND THIS TO EVERYONE ON YOUR CONTACT LIST. NOW YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO. PLEASE DO NOT REPLY. COPY THE WHOLE EMAIL. GO BACK TO YOUR INBOX AND CLICK ON NEW. AND PASTE THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION

Boycott American goods because they help Israelis
Boycott British goods because they support America
Boycott Danish goods because of the Prophet Mohammad Caricature
Boycott goods from Holland because of the movie they created about Prophets
Boycott German goods... Just because it's close to the above countries
Did everyone forget that the one sending this forward is probably using an American brand laptop with all American software installed, using a Starbucks internet connection, after having a McDonald's meal takeaway?

Alcohol and Tobacco are more Fatal than Cannabis, LSD and Ecstasy
This is the latest drug list revised by Britain's drug experts. It reveals the misconceptions we have of alcohol and tobacco being the least dangerous out of all drugs other than Heroine and Cocaine.
They tested 20 different drugs and scored the effects caused to the body. The results were surprising and shown in the graph provided.
"A team of 29 psychiatrists took part in the the study to classify all drugs into nine groups that were analyzed on the physical harm, addiction and social danger. Another group consisted of 16 experts did the research in several fields including chemistry, pharmacology, psychiatry and legal field to say a final word on drug ranking.
According to this new drug list, alcohol is named A drug. It slightly outruns heroin and cocaine. Tobacco was placed ninth and fell within a category B drug, after amphetamine. Such dangerous drugs as cannabis, LSD, ecstasy were left far near the end of the drug list."infoNIAC

Komodo Dragon - One Bite Killer
You're thinking... Dragons??!! They are in myths and they are known to breathe fire. Well this dragon is real and dangerous, except for the fire part. So dangerous that it bites the prey ONE time injecting fatal degenerate bacteria into the prey's body and waits.
This dragon has an incredible sense of smell, when the prey dies from the deadly bacteria after days, the Komodo Dragon will know where they are from their keen sense of smell. Go there and eat it.
Actually to be more precise, the prey will become a big meal for a Komodo fest because all Komodo Dragons sense their own saliva miles away and goes there. The Komodo Dragon is the fastest, largest, strongest lizard alive. Komodo Dragons are endangered species although they are new species. One last interesting fact is that a Komodo can open it's mouth so wide that it becomes bigger than it's own head.

Animal Homosexuality
Myth says, if homosexuality exists for animals, then it's natural to exist for humans. But the big question is: Is animal homosexuality real?
For years and years they researched strange behavior between animals of the same sex. Behavior including humping, grinding, having an erection, playing with each other rather than with the other sex or staying in packs male and female separated.
The results show that there is no such thing as homosexuality for animals. This even elicits a bigger question: If animals don't develop homosexuality, can homosapiens develop it?

Prehistoric Very Rare Shark Discovered and Photographed Alive
Flaring the gills that give the species its name, a frilled shark swims at Japan's Awashima Marine Park on Sunday, January 21, 2007. Sightings of living frilled sharks are rare, because the fish generally remain thousands of feet beneath the water's surface.
Spotted by a fisher on January 21, this 5.3-foot (160-centimeter) shark was transferred to the marine park, where it was placed in a seawater pool.
"We think it may have come to the surface because it was sick, or else it was weakened because it was in shallow waters," a park official told the Reuters news service. But the truth may never be known, since the "living fossil" died hours after it was caught.

Strange Weird Fish Compilation
This is the famous Batfish. As you can see it looks like it had put lipstick on its lips. Roaming through aquatic life is an interesting journey. It's a journey full of unexpected discoveries; every single day a new species are discovered in the deep blue waters.
Recently, they also discovered new life forms in the freezing waters. Scientists say that they discovered only about 30% of life in the aquatic atmosphere. I don't know what to expect other than what we've already seen.
This week is the Aquatic Week. I will be posting videos and pictures of new fish and species discovered in the watery life. I will also be posting few prehistoric forms of life and explaining them bit by bit. I will not forget to share rare photos and strange aquatic life forms. I hope you will enjoy this week.

Super Ultimate Cows on Steroids!?!
As I was surfing the web, I came across a very interesting article about Belgium cows. They are very big muscular cows. Their muscle mass is so big they don't have to shave the hair to see it.
You might think they used steroids or some chemical for the cows to be that big. You're wrong, this specific breed of cows is a result of successful selective breeding. They chose the biggest male and female to mate with each other and made sure the gene responsible for this amazingly distinctive muscle mass is always available.
In our time, they are using computer technology to scan the sperm of the cow and make sure the gene is there and then they conduct artificial mating. They control the mating and the offspring by artificially masturbating the cow and taking the selected sperm and then inject it into the female cow.

Drug that Can Mutate Aids Virus to Self-Destruct
HIV
This microscopic image in false color shows the HIV virus up close. Famous for its ability to evolve and evade drugs designed against it, HIV appears vulnerable to a new drug that speeds up the mutation process. It takes time and may not work for all patients, but early clinical trials are promising.
HIV is notorious for its ability to mutate and evade drugs designed to destroy it. Now scientists are testing a new drug that actually speeds up that rate of change in the hope that the deadly virus will mutate itself to death.
"The HIV virus is so dependent on mutation that it really lives on the edge of existence," said John Reno, Chief Operating Officer for Koronis Pharmaceuticals, the company developing a drug called KP-1461. "But we figured that if we could increase this mutation rate, [HIV] might finally fall off that edge."
KP-1461 is a mutagen, meaning it encourages mutation, and has been in development for several years by the scientists at Koronis Pharmaceuticals.
